What Materials Are Rotary Lawn Mower Blades Made Out Of?
Most are made of a carbon steel—you get what you pay for—the more they cost , the longer they last. They make them to wear out!!!!!If they made they out of ( t-1 ) they would last too long and would not have to be replaced. Its a money thing.
most likely the real popular Strong metals.
Steel
Aluminum
Iron (maybe)
i would suspect them being made from a high carbon steel. aluminum would not be strong enough, and iron couldnt handle the tensile force.(pulling apart force)
most are made out of simple iron,, this allows them to be easily resharpened and lets them dent and bend instead of shattering pieces all over if they hit a rock etc,, cheaper ones are made of thin steel but will shatter and split it hit by a rock or tree root etc,,there are no steel or aluminum blades in the usa,,unless they are grey market imports,,
Most blades… well the GOOD blades that some don’t feel like paying the extra for, are a high carbon steel… very strong. They are not made out of iron, hit a rock with the engine doing 3,600 rpm, and it might shatter.
Aluminum….? no, never….. its too light, and too soft of a metal…..
steel, why???
