what all the other answers have failed to say is what is the difference .a hover mower floats on a cushion of air above the ground it is very good for steep banks and awkward terrains ..a rotary mower blade goes round in the same way ..but the machine is on wheels and you have to push it ….if you have a good even surface ..go for rotary ..if not the hovers no bover
The hover mower hovers by air air cushon like the hover craft boat. It will cost 2 to 3 times the amount of a regular mower. The ones that I have seen start at 730 dollars. Go to http://www.hovermowers.com for a detailed explanation of how they work.
A rotary mower has blades which rotate and a hover mower has baldes which spin. The main difference I find is that a rotary mower gives the grass a better finish with more of a cut, whilst a hover mower has a tendency to chop the grass and leaves tufts and long bades of grass. My preference is for a rotary mower for a neater finish!!
The guy at No 3 has got it right. The hover mower can be easier to manoeuvre because it sits on a cushion of air, where as the rotary mower does not.
Both units are probably rotary mowers. Just one floats on a cushion of air. A rotary mower is any mower that the blade spins horizontally. It is designed to lift the grass up as it cuts.
