If you don't have a manual for your model, look it up online. It will tell you exactly how much that model takes.

It will take about 3/4 of a quart. If it has a dipstick add oil until it reaches the full mark. Do not overfill it. If it doesn't have a dipstick fill it until the oil is about 1//4 inch below the top of the hole.

If you still have the owners manual it will list the amount of oil needed.My simple Briggs and Stratton 5 horse push mower only takes 10 ounces of oil.If you do not have the owners manual you could check the craftsman website to see if they have an online version you could download for free.

Sir;
For security reasons Unplug the wire from the spark plug first.
On this type of engine you need to know that the drain plug is under the engine and you must have the engine high enough for you to be able to reach that plug.
I believe american ounces are the same as Canadian.
Just make sure you dealer can confirm this OK.
(( Do not Tilt the engine from side to side)) as the oil will go up the oil galleries and will foul the combustion chamber and you will not be able to start the Motor.
It is either a 1/4 inch drain plug hole where you will need an extension of about 6 inches long from a ratchet set to unscrew that plug.
On some briggs engines some drain plugs are to be removed with octagonal Type Allen wrench or a small straight Allen wrench where you will use a wrench to leverage the removal. _____!
Once the oil is drained re-install the plug Tight, Insert 15 and a Half ounces of SAE oil 30 (detergent) oil or 10w30 sae oil.
NEVER USE A NON DETERGENT OIL.
To make sure you have the right amount of oil use the dip stick half way in the fill up and you will see the indicator mark that it is missing or over filled. Overfilled by ( ½ ) an once is not to worry about.
That engine like I said takes 15 ½ ounces of oil. Or metric just about 750ml from a 1000 ml bottle.
Then reinsert your spark plug wire.
This should be done every 10 to fifteen hours of operation.
The same applies for the sharpening of the blade and the balance of the cutter.
