it should be sealed and it is a combustable. Make sure if it is the red one that both caps are on it. The only reason for the two caps is for when you are pouring it you open the back cap up to let the air in it.
Keep it SEALED
Gasoline containers should not be stored in basements. They should not be in direct sunlight and vented, as gas will expand and contract. Storage should be in an outside shed, as it is very combustible and you don’t want anything to happen to your house. When the container is empty, leave the cap(s) off for at least a day to dry out any possible condensation that may have been caused by temperature fluctuations, then refill.
no way either the gas can or the mower should be in your basement!!… get them out of there!!!….. don’t be a victim!,,, it’s happened that fumes have been set off by a hot water tank coming on or a flick from a light switch!… http://www.cdc.gov/nasd/docs/d000701-d00…
YES, it is highly combustible. Yes, it should be sealed on both end caps. NO NO NO, it should never be stored in any part of your house. Keeping a lawn mower inside the house is a ‘maybe’ but make sure the gas tank is empty.
Keep the gas can outside please.
Gas containers will expand and contract in hot and cold weather, it is a good idea to vent cont. if it will be exposed to heat, if you detect fumes you should consider outdoor storage in shed or locker etc.
