A Old Lawn Mower That I Have Works Great She Starts Up In Just One Pull But?
my mower starts and will run if you leave up to the exhaustion of the gas, but it makes the noise of grinding hard and sharp. something is jammed as I looked out and it assumes that this is not anything to be there is he? im thinking its the magnet, but I'm not working on lawnmowers i work on semi-trailers. any thoughts or help would be great thank you.
Sounds like the recoil starter is not disengaging or the engine brake is draging on the flywheel. Remove the starter assembly and free it up. Shoot it with WD-40. While you have it off look at the engine brake. When you squeeze the handle it should be clear of the flywheel.
every neighborhood has a lawn mower repair shop and it is usually 15 dollars or less to look it over and tell you what is exactly wrong with it
Does it have enough oil? Or the shaft could be bent.
I would take the recoil and cover off..uaually three 1/2 in and two 7/8 in bolts. On the top of the engine you will see a square shape unit ( app 0ne square in X 3 in tall ) there will be a screen wire circle below this unit. The unit is part of the starting system and will turn freely in one direction. With W-D 40 spray the heck out of it (you will see a small hole on the top) Inside this unit are several ball bearings and they get dry and can cause a squeaking ..squealing noise. I hope this helps and solves your problem.
Check to see if there is a zerk fitting for the shaft. It may be hidden under all the old grass and dirt under the deck.
If there is grease the heck out of it,hopefully it will go away.
Good Luck!
