Peter, trust is about more than a web scanning or a verification seal. It is also about transparency too. Shoppers want information and more information about a business (especially smaller businesses selling online who do not have brand recogniztion) is actually in some ways more powerful than a scanning or verification seal. They want to know how long the business has been in existence, the company’s story, names of management, maybe a video introduction of the management team, customer service and management contacts etc. Here is a post that we just published yesterday on the subject on the 7 steps to get more sales by demonstrating trust – http://bit.ly/5namrO. In the end, its about the seller doing many of the things you mention in the first part of your article.
