How Do You Use Your Electric Lawn Mower?
We have received a power mower as a gift (it is a hand mower), my husband has used it for several months. The only way he can use it without cutting the power cord is pushing and pulling the mower with one hand while pulling, pushing, to choose the cord with the other. I think we should double the time to mow the lawn with this machine. . . . is there a trick you can give us? perhaps something that we do not know, like a retractable cord. . . I do not know. . . . something you can use to be able to push the machine with both hands
BTW “The Man”: ‘Electric’ would mean….. electricity. ‘Battery-powered’ would mean…. battery. DUH.
I have an electric; takes a few uses to get the hang of it. Most have a handle that ‘flips’ from one side to the other, so that the cord stays on the same side of the mower, and you don’t have to walk backward, or drag the mower – both of which can be dangerous. Check your mower to see if it has a hinge at the bottom, where the handle attaches to the mower. If so, then you should also have a lever that will unlock the handle and allow you to flip it over to the other side.
Once you figure that out: start mowing closest to where you’ve plugged in, and walk away from it; make sure that where the cord plugs into the handle stays closest to the ‘plug in’ point at your house. Then, as you mow further away, the cord stays on the grass that’s already been mowed.
omg i haven’t seen are heard of those in years……when we were teens my sister and me would take turns….1 would push while the other would hold the cord….I for one hated them…so afraid that her or I would drop it.
electric lawn mowers usually dont have cords, they have recahrgable batteries, so they only need to be plugged in after every use.
No.That is why most people take 50 bucks go to a pawn shop and buy a gas mower.
U PLUG IT IN
If you cut, make sure that the side of the mower the cable comes out will be on the side you did cut. If you move the mower the width of 1 cut to the un-cut side you are clear of yhe cable and can push with 2 hands.
fill it up with gas
you mow in one direction push it then pull it back it is safer that way.
Arrange the cord and the cutting so that you are always working away from the cord…the cord will follow you over the already cut area. Duh> Easiest to push one direction, then pull while going in opposite direction….that way the cord is always on the cut side.
mow from the direction the cord is pluged into away from that location in a back an forth direction pulling the cord out into the yard as you go
Meg Griffon…. is that you!!!!!
when i had an electric mower i put the cord over my right shoulder and made sure to keep it out of the way that way the cord was always behind me.btw i loved that mower wish i still had one. it was quiet and cheap to run.
