Thank you Greg
You are not very clear with your question. But if I am understanding you right you didn’t see a spark. Pull your spark plug out and check it first, your gap should be 0.030 not 0.3 that you stated in your question. You should try getting information on your engine at the library or a small engine repair manual at auto parts store.
Charge up the battery first. Now that you know you have juice, arc the starter cellanoid across the terminals with a pair of rubber handled pliers. Make sure you have something heavy sitting on the seat to engage the seat switch. If it starts, replace the cellanoid. Also too check any fuses.
Don’t think its the coil right off the bat everybody….. remove the kill wire off the coil first… to make sure its not the safety switch….. before you go off spending money on a new coil to find out it could be a kill switch. If this doesn’t work, well then a new coil is in order… gap it at .10 or use a buisness card, I like a dollar bill, just a tad closer, till its snug and you can pull it out with some tugging, but doesn’t rip, then spin the flywheel around to make sure its not catching, and tighten it down, make sure (this side out) is towards you. And spinning the flywheel is done easier by removing the plugs so theres no compression to contend with.
Seems that NEWBEE1 has a link to hobbytalk…. I’m on that site answering questions like these…. great bunch of other guys as well….
its the coil (magneto). thats the part that feeds the spark plugs. take the cover off the top of the engine ( 10mm or 7/16 bolts), then the coil (5/16). a new one will be about 50 bucks. when you put the new one back on, put a business card between it and the flywheel for spacing.
The first answere is right on the buisness card but first clean the magnet on the flywheel with sand paper and remove all rust.Do the same to the coil (clean and check)and then if you get no spark try a new coil.
